I would look into the Delano JMVC-4FE/M2 and the PMVC-4FE/M2 for clarity and punch.

How many Basses Does Everbody bring to a gig?

It depends on the band that I'm gigging with. Both of my avant-garde metal bands I usually bring four basses in either all 6 stringers or a mixture of 4-6 stringers. The gothic metal band only two a 4 and a 5 stringer.

I had the same issue on Fenders although mine had very little playtime and been their cases for a few weeks.

That's the same issue for although the strings barely lasted 4 days of intense gigging.

Is the Wooten P/J set a good choice for me?

I've tried both pickups in two different instruments and they're just smoother versions of the ceramic X's. Attack is smoother and not peaky as the ceramics.

Need help getting tru oil in california

It's a CARB(California Air Resources Board) regulation that Birchwood Casey wouldn't fight off. They got gun shy after they lost a $500,000 in a lawsuit from CARB/BAAQMD. Invalid Link Removed Invalid Link Removed

    EMG Verse EMGX

EMG X's are like the regular EMG's running at 18V. They have deeper low and crisper highs that still retains the mid-range clarity of the regular EMG's.

upgrading pickups for Ibanez BTB675... ideas/advice needed

Ibanez basses without any preamp is like a Swiss Army Knife without it's two blades IMO. Anyways Delano, Nordstrand, Aguilar, and Bartolini(USA) make fine pickups in P2(2mm thinner in width compared to the MKs) or in MK formats. As for the preamp Delano and Glockenklang have the better preamps...

Most fret damaging strings out there??

It varies between manufacturers of the wire and the formulation of the alloy. IIRC Jescar uses a 15% chromium stainless steel and Dunlop's wire is 13% chromium.

Help! EMG PJ set wiring problem ( quik connect )

Strange when I installed my PJX set into my Jag special it had a active tone pot included in the kit. The X series pickups don't work with a passive tone control IIRC. So you'll need to get a active tone control from either EMG or a dealer.

Are pickup upgrades really worth it?

Almost none of my basses have stock pickups other than AMD J and P. Other than those the Ibanez and ESP basses have aftermarket pickups. Due to them both having really poor dynamics.

    EMG electronics

I called EMG about 9v vs 18V when running their pickup and preamps together when I was installing them in my ESP. They said if I'm running both I would need to run them at 18v and not 9v to get the best out of pickups and preamp.

    EMG electronics

EMG states that if you use both their pickups and preamps together you'll need to run them at 18V.

    worst bass you've ever owned?

I was given two turds for basses by a good friend of mine who quit playing music. One was Jackson C20 Concert Bass the other a Ibanez BTB305. The C20 was the worst of the two due to unstable tune, dead spots on 5-12 frets, and a neck that was very unstable. The BTB305 was a different story...

It appears that the world suppliers of the CF fabric and strands are at peak production right now. DR Sunbeams vs. Hi-Beams

Really? They're the smoothest SS roundwound strings on the market.
  31. A

Question for dead roundwound enthusiasts (Ernie Ball)

EB's when they start to die inconsistently between the strings IME. B/E strings die first then the D/G strings and the last to die is the A string. Also they last a mere week or two before they start doing that.

    DR Sunbeams vs. Hi-Beams

The big differences between the two are like night and day. 1.The Hi-Beams are a tad rougher than the Sunbeams.Due the SS wrap wire used in the Hi-Beams. 2.The Hi-Beams are brighter with a slight mid scoop whilst the Sunbeams are warmer and fuller sounding. 3.The tension is the same due the...

New pickups for ESP/LTD B-404SM.. Suggestions please!

Yes, you would need to buy two of them as they don't come in sets. As for the CSX vx DCX issue... I wouldn't say that the DCX as the CSX can be real bright in the bridge too. Anyways the DCX works well in warmer toned instruments while the CSX works brighter toned instruments. EDIT:If your...

Mighty Mite necks vs. Fender vs. Warmoth

I'd take Warmoth neck just for the choices you get with materials and dimensions. Warmoth will take 3-4 weeks to build a unfinished neck and add another 2-3 weeks for finished neck. If my past experience with ordering from them is correct.

New pickups for ESP/LTD B-404SM.. Suggestions please!

The SD SSB-4 are blander than the so called "sterile" EMG's. Anyways I suggest that you replace them 35DCX or 35CSX both are much better than the non-x models. I also recommend getting the BQS system preamp too.
