this is my set up! Tone Hammer 500 through a SL112. I keep everything about 12 o clock. Super warm vintage tone. I absolutely love it. I do all my coloring with the SRS5 preamp.

Oh man this is a different beast altogether. Off the bat I noticed the 08 was quite mid forward and not necessarily as warm and balanced as my Special. It took a little dialing to get the tone I was looking forward. Backed the mids a bit and boosted the bass slightly. Still need to tweak things...

Just following up with my previous post. When did the Special designation come about? This is an 2008 SR5 line fretless next to my Special.

so just got the Fretless in. I’m still feeling it out. Needed some tweaking to my preference, will need to order the flats I want, but I think it’ll scratch that itch. It’s an 2008 lined fretless with Pau Ferro, vintage sunburst and tort guard. Compliments my Special nicely.

Music Man Stingray Fretless 5 string

I don’t currently have a PBass (Stingray Special 5) but I roll the highs and lows all the way down on my bass, boost the mids all the way, then add the lows as needed. I have flats on. I was playing Aston “Family Man” Barrett lines this morning before work and it was sounding good.

Throw some flats on a pbass and turn the tone down. Let the bassline drop as loud as you can stand.

me too! I really hope there’s a fretless option in the work (but not holding my breath). Then there’s the whole, not available for months if at all. EBMM is pretty good about availability of announced instruments though.

EBMM Stingray 5 Special -lightweight aluminum hardware -lightweight ash body -active electronics it may be available for you to try at a local store. I absolutely love mine. The 3 band EQ is very usable.

Does any have experience with the Sputnik model? I configured one on the site and I’m wondering if it would be with me. Obviously, one would never be available to try so it would be a blind purchase based on reputation alone.

The single cut SR came out in 2016. I believe when they began the “Bass Workshop” line. They do have some new finishes on the singlecut BTB this year

I just need a Fretless that’s not a +$3000 BFR model. Even if they don’t mass produce them, and make them a bit of a special order through a retailer. Is that too much to ask? Sterling?
