The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

My collection thus far - I've told myself I will only have a max of 20. I am entirely a hobbyist and use them for stress-relief lol. All are strung with Ernie Ball cobalt flatwounds. Apologies for the terrible photos. Some day I will do an actually photoshoot. Ibanez SR1350b - B standard...

Jam Rattler Bass - How do I adjust the symmetrical/asymmetrical clipping and the gain amount for the second foot-switch?

i emailed JAM with the same question a few months back. They said it is fixed and not adjustable. A shame because I find the default setting too noisy and shrill. Especially when compared to the Red Muck’s second gain stage which is perfect to my ears.

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Got the SGT-DI repaired. The tech ended up replacing the pcb board. However in Ampeg fashion their new pcb for the unit doesn’t accept the old knob design so those are being shipped to my residence. Here’s hoping this hassle leads to the new one lasting.

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Brought mine to an authorized Ampeg dealer this past week. He said it is likely due to one of the two pcbs inside the unit. One of them controls the SGT circuit and compressor which is where mine has failed. The part was $115 out of warranty. The fact that Ampeg’s response to this has simply...

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Yeah it’s quite discouraging considering the price of the unit. Only other pedal I’ve had fail was a behringer sf300 but $25 down the drain is far more palatable than $400. I will definitely update if the certified tech is able to diagnose the problem.

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Did you find a solution to this by chance? I have run into the same issue and my pedal is past warranty.

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Same thing happened to me several months ago. My local repair places have been unable to fix the issue so I’m bringing it to a certified repair place outside my state. Not too far thankfully but still incredibly disappointing. Ampeg support has been quite lacking considering the price point of...

Official Darkglass Club: Welcome to the Darkside

Love mine as well. Plus, it’s headphone & aux outputs make it a beast for silent practice.

I think they’ve had one more edition come out. The new X ultra is very prices but certainly worth it imo. It’s got the same features as the X7 but a few more EQ sections, a cab sim and auxiliary/headphone inputs for silent practice.

That’s an equally sick board my friend. How do you like the cat tail? I was debating between thar and the blower box but decided on availability. Also I imagine that MBd-1 is killer. Considering the demos I heard.

Official Darkglass Club: Welcome to the Darkside

Thanks man for the compliment! It took a good amount of time and money to figure out what worked best but I’m glad the effort paid off. Still a little iffy on the Athena for modulation but otherwise I’m as content as I could be.

Official Darkglass Club: Welcome to the Darkside

Just added the Microtubes Ultra X and man this things slays. The filters on it make everything else on the board sound so much fuller and meaty. Plus, its compressor and eq saved room on the board. Really one of the best pedals I’ve ever used. My only grip is that the filter knobs are difficult...

Little bit late to the party but here’s my board. Just got the Darklgass Ultra X and I got to admit, it’s pretty darn awesome. I don’t use it’s distortion much but its eq, high & low pass filters and other benefits make it a killer pedal in both uses and price. The others aren’t too shabby...

As someone who just moved to an area where bands actually come I feel your pain. I missed a few bands before I moved and now I don’t know when they’ll be back. Thankfully, Acid King is coming in September and they’ll be my first concert. I’m so pumped

So a random issue came up and I’m not quite sure how to fix it. I recently left my tube amp on standby mode for about 4 hours accidentally and now the amp won’t turn on. Everytime I do the amp goes into protect mode and shuts down the tubes. The bias levels all indicate they are too low and even...

I’m sure most, if not all, of you know this but changing your strings affects so much. I replaced my old roundwounds on my p-bass with some Marcus Miller super bright stainless steels and wow. My tone is popping now. Definitely change strings before anything else :bassist:

I’ve seen those online. Definitely look useful as all get it but I don’t see the benefit when I have an ls-2 that splits my signal already. Definitely let us know how it does!

For sure. The pedal size is certainly a detriment but considering that it does the job of multiple pedals (green russian, big muff pi and other amenities), I’m willing to give up the board space. Definitely glad I moved on from the green russian to this, the added mids are great.

Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Has anyone seen or tried this pedal out? It’s a green russian reissue with a bunch of new features. It’s got a mids section, blend, noise gate, and wicker alongside the standard controls. I’ve been pretty impressed with it so far, especially for the cost.

From what I gathered it seemed like the YBA200 gets dirtier quicker. So if you’re looking for clean tone from your head it wouldn’t be the best choice. I, for example, get my dirt from my pedals so the extra headroom was appreciated.

Well, finally got my doom rig together. A Traynor YBA300 going into an 8 ohm Peavey PVH 212. I was planning on getting a Fender Bassman 500 but saw the Traynor locally and thought “Why not go all-tube”. Definitely don’t regret it, this thing is so cool and is a solid 30lbs lighter than its Ampeg...

What does your home practice setup look like?

I use an Ampeg Micro VR with the complementary 2x10. Works well for my needs and with the headphone out and aux input I can play silently.

Considering those sort of gigs are what I’m going to be playing in, I guess I’ll go for a nice 4x10 for now. I can always add on later.

    What’s everyone’s preferred bass cabinet set-ups? I’ve been debating between three options and can’t decide which one to pair with a 500w Fender Bassman Hybrid. The 15s are slightly cheaper but I’ve heard 4x10s pack more punch. Here are my choices... 1) A 4x10 & 1x15 2) 2 4x10s 3) 2 1x15s

Here are some photos of my Daphne blue 60’s Jazz. It really is a great instrument with no third-party add ons needed. I will say the pickups are a little boomy on the e-string but lowering the pickup height fixed that easy enough.

I absolutely agree with you. I was on the fence about getting mine but I'm really glad I did. I have two MIM P-basses and was looking to grab a jazz for variety's sake. Went into a Guitar Center where they had a MIA 60s Jazz and was really impressed but couldn't justify the price. Once I saw...
