Thanks for the info and the tunes, much appreciated! I'll check out the tunes; hearing it in a mix is ideal. In other news, I went back and sized up on the control knob(s). I do like the look of mixing them though, with the tone knob staying smaller...

Oh man... this is the sauce right here. I love the Novak BS/DS in my Lincoln, and to see it in a big ol mudbucker format... I know what's going on my next Serek. You wouldn't have any sound clips of it, would you?

Wanted to change up the knobs on my Lincoln. I really like the look of these flying saucers, they kinda remind me of a Les Paul Triumph bass.

    Snagged an Ampeg SVT-100

Thanks! It's definitely cool to not just play but own a rare piece of equipment like that... But also interesting that it isn't particularly sought after or all that valuable 😅 Is this the AMC Pacer of amps?! 🤣 I spent a good bit of time yesterday evening playing around with it, and I'm...

    Snagged an Ampeg SVT-100

It seems like threads about the SVT-100 only pop up every 5 years or so, figured I would post one since I just bought one today! Traded a SLM-era BSE410H cabinet + $300 for it. VERY happy with it so far! Nuts and Bolts: There seems to be extremely little information about these online, at...

Does anyone know what size posts Serek's pots are? Or in general what knobs fit the posts? I'm thinking about trying some different knobs for my volume and tone.

Thanks! Jake was so great to work with, he could have just flat out said "no" to everything I asked for (and I still would have ordered one). Instead he came back with a "huh... let's try it!" attitude. Love that in a builder :)

My first Serek incoming! I spoke with Jake a little over a year ago about doing a custom Lincoln build out of his new shop in NC, once he got things up and running. 34" scale Walnut body Roasted maple neck/fingerboard Novak BS/DS pickup (coil tap changed to a mini-toggle instead of push/pull...

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Has anyone had any trouble with the XLR-out on their SGT? Starting this past Sunday, the output from the XLR-out was really distorted and low. My rig stays mainly stationary at church, so I don't think anything could have been damaged. Thankfully the 1/4" outs don't seem to be affected, so...

Gibson-style String Mute Compatibility with Modern Bridges

Personal context: I absolutely love basses (and really any instrument) that has some quirkiness to it, even at the expense of effectiveness, ergonomics, efficiency, etc. Along these lines I particularly love basses that have mechanical muting devices installed, specifically the Gibson-style...

    Gordo Club (Mike Gordon)

Oh nooooooo! I'm so sorry to hear that! I got one of the last white posters at the merch booth I was at on Thursday... A fight almost broke out when a couple of guys just completely cut the line and walked right up to the counter to get posters.

    Gordo Club (Mike Gordon)

Did Thurs/Sunday at Dicks per usual. Really REALLY happy with how forward in the mix Mike was, had a LOT of definition coming out of his Serek. Actually got in early enough to get a poster this year! Was really surprised at how light the crowd was on Thursday.

EHX POG III, oh yes please

I have absolutely zero use for it, but man that's cool. The Pedal Steel emulation is a trip!

    How do YOU get dirt?

It's a combination of things for me. I run an Ampeg SGT-DI as my preamp into a QSC GX5 power amp. With the SGT I engage my first stage of "dirt" by just turning on the SGT channel (I pretty much leave it on, but I can go "clean" by leaving it off if desired). From there I use two EQD Blumes...

    Ampeg SGT-DI

I've really been enjoying the combination of the SGT and the EQD Blumes, especially the Blumes' transparent boost mode. It feels like it gives me a 3rd channel on the SGT: Preamp, SGT, and SGT'er 😂

    Peavey T-40 Bass?

Wanting to update my pedal board with a synth :

I'd recommend the Panda Audio Future Impact or the Source Audio C4. Both allow you to go WAY deep into customizing presets via editing software, midi capabilities, and an active online community of preset creators who share some pretty awesome presets that you can easily load. I'm not a fan of...

    Earthquaker Devices Blumes

Great suggestion on settings. It's absolutely bonkers how much headroom there is on Mode 2. I've found that when I go from Mode 2 to 3, I bump the Level to about 9-10 o'clock to achieve unity.

    Earthquaker Devices Blumes

Picked up a 2nd Blumes off of Reverb, this time in purple metallic (Gear Hero exclusive I guess?). They are even selling this one a bit under retail with free shipping, so bonus! Gonna leave one in Mode 2 and one in Mode 3. I was trying to hold out for one of the Black-on-Black Pitbull Audio...

As with any drive/distortion pedal, the upper harmonics are prominent, but I definitely don't feel like I lose any low-end with it.

I love the SGT-DI, but I'm also a huge Ampeg fanboy. We have an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 on stage with a 210 cab, but I bypass the preamp on it in favor of the SGT. Not that I dislike the Aguilar tone, but I like the SGT better, and so does our worship pastor.

    Worship Bass Pedalboards

I've really been enjoying the sound of the EQD Blumes for my drive/distortion, especially in the bigger sections of songs on our Worship set. The only problem is I can't decide which I like more, Mode 2 or Mode 3... I dig Mode 2 because of its transparency; I treat it like a channel selector...

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! Lol, you nailed it. Eventually I'm gonna snag a Morningstar MC6 for exactly that reason... setting up some presets for the FI and Spectrum. It'll either go sideways next to the Hyper Luminal, or I'll ditch the SmartGate (it rarely gets used) and move the Luminal up to...

The EHX Microsynth is just octave, distortion, and filter circuits crammed into a single housing. It's fairly easy to recreate, just takes a lot of patience in the tinkering.

    Ampeg SGT-DI

Agreed, of all the pre-loaded ones, that 2x12 in the user bank is the best one, but I've yet to find a situation where I felt like I NEEDED it over just having cabsim turned off. I think a lot of people prematurely wrote off the SGT due to not liking the cabsim. Not sure why they didn't just...

    Ampeg SGT-DI

I've had similar experiences, but haven't tried backing off on the tone of any of my basses... I'll have to give that a shot! Are you using the cabsim at all? I personally think it sounds so much better with the cabsim off.

I guess my gear is taking the scenic route...

Not sure if anyone east of the Mississippi has seen the following message on Sweetwater: But when ordering some gear recently to be shipped here to Denver, I thought to myself, "Sweet, Phoenix is only like 12 hours by car, shipping times are gonna be really quick now!" But then in tracking my...
