Found the most of the info on the LOG :)

    Lakland Owners Group #60

Wowza! Can anyone help me out with some info on this beauty? Is this a refurb'd Skyline, 'cause from where I'm sitting I think I can see that decal on the headstock, and also, it looks like a Skyline bridge (matte saddles)... So IIRC you owned a LOG Bass didn't you? I'm presuming a neck swap, or...

    "Plays like butter"

And then there are the Squires and SXs that (allegedly) play like Sadowskys. Perhaps they could be described "I can't believe it's not buttah!" :p

    :( That is a shame.

I thought it was just the 5 string Chi-Buckers that had been discontinued and they still made the 4 string humbuckers... Although I've been wrong in the past, haha :)

    Lakland 44-94 / 4-94 confusion

You're right, the 4-94 and 44-94 are the same bass. In the Dan Lakin "era" of the company, it was called the 4-94, but since the Pirrucello brothers took over they changed the name to the 44-94 for the sake of uniformity with all the other bass models, bar the Decade, Hollowbody, and Darryl...

I don't think anyone needs the amount of power an M9 has (without wanting to ruin hearing in the process, haha) but IMO, if you were gonna make the move to an M6/9 I would go for the M9, as I would rather have the options there and not use them, than be stuck one day... I just managed to...

    Lakland Owners Group #54

If it helps, I run my 55-02 through a Mesa M6 (powering a pair of Berg AE210s) and I love it, the voicing control is actually usable, though I generally run it all pretty flat. I can only imagine the M9 would be more impressive, do to the Graphic EQ amongst other things.

I believe the Skyline AJs have the same Bart preamp as the -01s which might be why there is no active/passive switch... Just thinking out loud :)

Nice vid! I'm going to see Incubus next near when they tour Australia. Can't wait :D

I agree, four strings are (is?) all you need :smug: :p

    Lakland Owners Group #51

Got it, I remember you talking about all those switching options. It's a shame you won't get all that versatility but I'm sure the regular MMEs will suffice :) looking forward to seeing the results

    Lakland Owners Group #51

Right. I remember him talking about them but I eagerly await an explanation :)

    Lakland Owners Group #51

Seconded, you beat the Panda though, haha. I'm sure it hasn't been an anticlimax, I'm just waiting for a Skyline Decade 5er... *projects vibes at JP* :p

    Where Did Metal Go?

PS2's...? Also, are you saying that music around today isn't different or new to what was being recorded 10+ years ago, I beg to differ :)

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

My new Berg rig, these were the last 2 AE210s for sale in Australia, so it makes me like it just that little bit more :p Can't wait to try it out with the band :D

Does the Lakland 44-60 (Vintage J) Sound more 60ish or 70ish?

I would guess that it was designed to have a "60s tone", it has the 60s spacing, as it was modelled after Joe Osbourne's 60s jazz. Or is that all stuff you already know... :)

    Lakland Owners Group #51

The pups in the Skyline AJ are the same Hansons that go into the US versions, just FYI :) depends how much you love Nordies and/or dislike the Hansons

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

I've just put on lay-by the last two AE210s in Australia (:D) but I have a few questions that I forgot to ask when I was testing them. Firstly, if I'm going to be stacking them vertically, is it best that I try and source some rubber feet for the cabs? Secondly, if I did have some of the...

    Lakland Owners Group #51

I mostly understood that :p I have one more question (for now), will having the bass in passive mode draw less current (or power, whichever is technically correct) than having the bass set "flat" in active mode? I ask because I've had my 55-02 for well over a year and I've only had to change...
  26. L

    Lakland Owners Group #51

So it will draw from the battery if it's left in passive mode with the cable in? This is mind-bottling... :p

    Lakland Owners Group #51

In contrast to what everyone else says, the answer is yes. This is because pulling the volume knob up completely bypasses the preamp. However, on a xx-01, this won't work as pulling the volume knob bypasses the EQ section only. I've tested this on my 55-02 on at least 2 seperate occasions...

    LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #50!!!

Since JP took over from Dan, Lakland have offered several LE runs of Skylines, so I see no reason as to why they won't keep doing it as they appear to be selling well. Disclaimer: I'm not a guru as such... :p

    LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #50!!!

Damn you Greg, making me look like a fool (not particularly hard :p), but at least I get partial credit as it's a 5 string and AFAIK there weren't any Natural Skyline DJ5s made. Hopefully that's correct :)

    LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #50!!!

All Skyline DJs have Blocks and Binding, but it was a good idea in theory :)

    Club Dark Star

Shoot TBer "MrMatt" a PM, he's got a Lakland Decade w/ dual DarkStars and an Audere, I'm sure he'd be happy to elaborate on it. :)

    NBD- candy red jazz bass

Ah, thanks. So it's just a different, more authentic flavour than standard?

    NBD- candy red jazz bass

So what is a ribbed bridge
  36. L

    LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #50!!!

As far as Chrome covers go, for me it's on a case by case (or bass by bass) basis, and there's something about it that just doesn't sit right with me in this particular scenario. But, it's your choice and rock whatever you choose with maximum power! :p

Ben Kenney, the guy with a good sound

Being a bit of a Ben Kenney fanboy, I can tell you that he mainly plays J style basses. He's got a couple with Joe Barden J pups, as well as a recently aquired short scale 44-60 with ChiSonics. The Js and I think there's a P or 2 and maybe even a Lakland Hollowbody, all go through the...

I assume you mean luthier, but what do you mean put the strings on the other side of the frets?
