It all depends on what "grabs" you. Acoustic makes (made) great amps that are solid state and famous for their overdrive tone. Same with Sunn. So it just depends

Currently I have a 2x15 that I like more than any 10" cab I've used. Haven't used many 12" with bass but I like the 2x15" more than those too.

Ears are your best bet. Even in studio equipment situation, the lights and VU's are of limited use. Use your ears. Unless you're doing something really reckless you won't mess anything up.
