    EQD Special Cranker

I'm into it. I keep it on all the time into an 800 RB with a 4x10. P bass w a pick. Gives a good bit of a natural sounding grit with the MORE and none More and aggressive playing that cleans up with a lighter touch. Works well in my band. Helps get the cranked amp sound without the bandmate...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Only playing through half this stuff. The 370 is driving the top 4x10. The rest is just backup stuff. Prac pad shot. Sounded so good the drummer even noticed.

Who only uses 1 or 2 effects with a band?

Our guitar player has a board the size of Kentucky that may be self aware and I swear I saw it floating once, so anything I was trying to shoehorn in didn't get through the mix. So I just use a boost and Rat these days! It's been fun cuz I used to always have a board that's like 10 to 15 pedals...

    For the Love of RATs!

It's going to the grave with me. That's my home and recording Rat. It's within the first 50 Ryan made. I've stepped on it so much that now it gets to enjoy live show retirement. The Woodcutter is on my live board.

    For the Love of RATs!

    These are my favorite Rats

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Sounds like a really good vintage Rat. No bells and whistles. Love it. I use it for more grind when the amp/booster/my hands can't produce the gnarl. Kinda found a setting that works and stuck with it.

"New" Bass Day: 1973 Fender Precision

Ok. You twisted my arm. Happy Precision Bass acquisition day. Mine needs a little love, but I love working on guitars! Win/win. Hahaha.

Congrats! I just scored a 76 today! Today rocks.

Insane buzz/hum with new amp - why he do me like dat?

That kinda buzz usually means a ground wire is disconnected. Have your bass looked at by a tech. If you're handy with a soldering iron, it's an easy fix.

Pedalboards of the Stars: Part IV

I'll try to find a link and dm you. .... We were broke 12 years ago so the recordings suck. Small town kids ripping off Gravity Record bands and KFAD era Faith No More. I don't wanna derail the thread will my long dead band! We mostly just got booked any time a loud noisy local was needed as a...

Pedalboards of the Stars: Part IV

Hells yeah. I'm trekking from the Mitten to Chicago for that one. My old old OLD band opened for TAAS on their final tour in Pontiac. Great dudes. Brian is a sweetheart. Same band opened for Widows before Easy Pain came out. Mind blowers!

Calling all Shiner/ Paul Malinowski fans!

Lollar Precision 90 pickup is great for slamming an amp in my experience. Not surprised he doesn't use the bridge pickup on that bass. They sound super brittle and wouldn't stand a chance in Shiner's mix.

Tone Butcher makes some really cool glitchy weirdo noisy pedals.

PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

This is the least amount of pedals I've ever used in a band and it's been fun. Rusty is a pre amp always on into a power amp. Fuzz is a Green Muff clone I made like 12 years ago I call The Green Bastard.

    Nate Newton distorsion sound

Isn't the Orange Bass Butler a bass pre/hi gain guitar amp in a box? A big part of Nate's sound is that he plays hard, often strumming power chords. Rockin'.

I was snowed in for a few days and decided to put this together for an upcoming recording session. The neon tape is to help me see. Dark stages, big feet, black pedals, general clumsiness, etc. The neon gives me some visual aid.

Fill in the blank: Nothing sounds as good as...

Tried it. Liked it. Seems to help the punch I like. I just leave it on. Never messed with much else. Not a fun story really.

These gadgets have all coalesced into some pretty rad tones for this fella.

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Love it. Gives me the Jesus Lizard "Nub" bass tone. Rips through the swirling din our guitar player makes. When I was in my early 20s I had a vintage Rat that sounded incredible and then died. This guy sounds like my long lost Rat. The LED can double as a night light as well which is a bonus.

Every pedal I buy has a loud buzz. Help!!

Does the buzz go away when you touch your bridge or strings? You could have a ground issue that the fuzz is exploiting.

The pick attack over the pickup is important too. I had that lightbulb moment myself. Do you really think all art should be the same?

Fuzzrocious Club - The One to Rule them All.

I rescued a 420 fuzz recently from the used market and my goodness. It's a room shaker. Love it. C(r)at Tail into it is a beautiful combo.

PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

This is fun. Echo Master is separate from pedal chain as it's for voice to disguise that I can't sing but have to do backing vocals.

    Servicing an Out-of-Production Pedal?

    Bass FX Hot Takes

Color matched, houseplant, adjacent Instagram pedalboard pics drive me nuts. When I tell someone I got a new pedal and the first thing they ask is about tone suck I want to suplex them through a table off the top rope. The Boss ODB-3 is a GREAT pedal as long as the treble and gain are below...
