Do any of you know if there is any kind of cable/box/device/spell that would allow me to, somehow, run two 4 ohm cabs out of a regular 4ohm amp?
I remember Mr. Dunwich made some sort of series/paralel box for Sam to use his 215 cabs with his Matamp, is that the kind of thing I should look for?

Yeah, same here, and I usually don't like pedals much for bass (I'm usually an amp overdrive guy).
Basically all of Catapult's album is through the RE20. Even the bowed upright bass parts. We recorded a DI bass track, too, but ended up not really using it.
Would be all over that if I liked active and five strings. Cool bass.
SM57 works. Especially if you stick it right up close so it's practically in the cone.
Yeah, basically. Don't try to hide things, because that sends the message that there's something you're doing that you think he should be pissed off about or that you're embarrassed of. Be cheerful and open (though don't overshare) about it, like it wouldn't even occur to you that you might be doing anything that any reasonable person would be upset about, and be happy that she's so cool and such. Emphasize how great she is to hang out with and talk about common interests and stuff (though not sex stuff, obviously, parents like to hear about how awesome their kids are... except how awesome they are in the sack).
If she's cool enough for him, she'll just get rid of it before the father even finds out.

The secret is not being a douchebag, I find (at least not to the person you're shaging). My ex was pretty open to a lot of things, because while I am generally an *******, I wasn't an ******* to her. I was also open to the various weird things she wanted to do, and she always knew that I wanted her to enjoy whatever thing I was suggesting as much as I did. With mutual trust and respect, you can get up to all kinds of crazy perverted things, the details of which are, of course, against talkbass user policy to post.It is different when its someone's daughter/family member than someone in your circle of friends. I banged the hell out of my best friend's wife's best friend over the course of a week. On two seperate occasions, two years apart. I still run in to her from time to time in my social circle. A little while ago she showed up with another mutual friend, they were dating, but he didnt know my history with her. Us guys were out by the grill, and he started going into a "she wont do xxx, how do you think I can convince her to?" discusion.
I just smiled, and told him I had no problem getting her to do that about 50 times....
Hell, they were practically family to start out!
I've been using effects more in Catapult, but my main tone is still just my overdriven amp. I do have a fuzz pedal for one part of the song/album, but I've yet to hear any pedal that sounds better for just general heavy overdrive than my amp does. The closest sounding just tend to feel like decent imitations.

I have to admit I get a bit annoyed when people say I play guitar. I mean, I can. But if you're going to say I play one thing, it's shaging bass.
Damn, that's awesome. If I was rich, I'd totally get it. Would be cool to power a second cab using it.
Ha, good jobs. I don't regret getting my degree, but I've yet to get an opportunity for an actual good, career type job after graduating from UCSC. Hell, maybe it's because I want to UCSC, specifically. Maybe people see that and instantly know I'm a left-wing stoner who wants to legalize cannabis and public nudity.
I like both trios and bigger groups. Trios are easier to manage and schedule and gig with, definitely. On the other hand, we had four people at our songwriting session (we didn't do full rehearsal tonight, since we had a show on saturday and were all exhausted), which is only two thirds of Catapult, and things actually went very, very quickly. Finished one of the new songs (at about nine minutes, it's much shorter than our previous song). So with the right chemistry it can work with more members. Personally, I think the new one is heavy as shag, but no doubt, as soon as we release new material, someone will start complaining about how we started sucking and that the old poopie was better. Hmm, kinda went on a ramble. Sorry.
Well, my very non-bouncy band played in the freezing wind in the middle of the desert, if that counts. None of the cabs involved would fit on any bike I've ever seen.
"My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" is a little bouncy. Great song, though. I like some of the slower stuff on Bloody Kisses, myself, but World Coming Down is without a doubt my favorite album by them. Especially the title song.
Ha ha, yeah, definitely. Like three of the other metal bands dropped out. We're the non-wimp one. We didn't want to be dropping out of a show at the last minute when we're such a new band and coming right off releasing an album. Gotta keep the momentum going, you know? Plus if we'd driven down and then decided not to do it, the drive back would be the slowest, most resentful car ride ever, and we'd all be feeling poopy, like ********, and also angry, and so instead of having a productive songwriting session tonight, we would have either done nothing or just been poopy to each other. Whereas, now, after having played the show, we feel pretty confident, and ended up making new friends and I think new fans, and demonstrated that we're willing to play in less than ideal conditions, and came to today's session hella amped and with a good attitude and so had a really good evening.
That is what I was just noticing! They can have all the ********* they want as long as shaging doesnt get censored.
