The safest way to go through two amps simultaneously, whether same make or not, is to use a Junction box and cord(lead, cable) from guitar into junction box then separate leads out of 3 way junction box. Best if leads are quality screened and JB is too.

I suggest leaving as it is. I have no idea as to why anyone wants to mess with a perfectly preserved instrument just to make it look "old & worn". That comes with age, hard work & general wear & tear. I would imagine that messing with the cosmetics would devalue the bass.
