Just purchased tickets to see The Wall by Roger Waters

I bought my ticket for the Atlanta, GA show last night! I was sure I'd never have a chance to see him in my lifetime, so as far as I'm concerned, the tickets could have costed a leg and I'd have asked which one they wanted. Believe that!

Can You believe I want to learn bass at 55 years old

Rock on man! You'll love it! :bassist: Groovin' in the low end is just an irreplaceable feeling altogether! I wish you the best of luck, and I truly mean that!

Which Bassists do you Pray to?

Roger Waters/David Gilmour... okay... technically I pray to the bass LINES in the Floyd tunes since nobody can seem to agree on who actually played them. :hyper:

So who is getting a bass for Christmas?

Honestly, I'm pretty sure I've got one... because it is bigger than the box in front of it, which I already know is an acoustic guitar... so uh... this guy is hoping.:hyper:

    4 strings only?

This guy's in and knows no one gives a crap. I've owned two fivers in the past... one with a low B, the other with a high C. Based on the results, if I were EVER to go back to a five... (which I NEVER will) I would go with a high C setup. I love 4's, and as previously mentioned...

    Everyone's downsizing these days..

+5.725 I feel ya there man. I've scored myself **WHAT I CONSIDER** a hell of a rig... a Peavey 1516, a Peavey 118D, pushed by a Peavey Mark VIII, all for dirt cheap. As far as downsizing, of course I've considered it many times, but I agree with the guy who started the thread, I like the...

Most Underrated Bassist of all time

Damn, I'm going in with mine anyway. I think that Timothy B. Schmidt (Eagles) is very underrated. Most people don't even know what the "Eagle's bassist" name is. They refer to him as "The bass player from the Eagles"

    Michael Jackson dead

No matter what your angle of Mr. Jackson, it is sad nonetheless. I think that Michael Jackson contibuted plenty in the music and dance world. He will be sincerely missed. R.I.P. Michael

    Roger Waters: Pink Floyd

I PERSONALLY love Roger Waters. He is a good bass player, and will always be an idol of mine.:bassist: But, I am a PINK FLOYD fan. PINK FLOYD. I love Rick Wright's work, talk about shear brilliance. Nick Mason's drumming and furthermore choice of sticking was and in every way always will be...

    Bassist with most UNIQUE tone

Roger Waters, especially in "Live in Pompeii," though I have come to understand that part of his deemed "gritty" tone had a lot to do with his usage of Hiwatt guitar heads through the WEM guitar cabs you see an abundance of in the video. I know, the whole classic, David Gilmour played so and so...

    TRAYNOR YBX1510 & TC1510

Sure man, although plenty of guys in here have plenty of better answers to offer. The Traynor YBX1510 is a 400 watt cabinet at 4 ohms. The Traynor TC1510 is virtually the same cabinet; however, it is a 600 watt cabinet at 4 ohms. That is one main difference as far as my knowledge goes...

What was YOUR First amp >Compared to What you have now!

Now I run a Yorkville XS800H into an SWR Big Ben with an ElectroVoice 18" in place of the SWR speaker. Oh my Dear Lord is all I can manage to say at this point...

    Yorkville/Traynor Club?!

Yessir!! Actually, it is really only 600 watts, because the head pumps 600 watts @ 8 ohms, and my cabinet runs 400 watts @ 8 ohms. Trust me, on a pinch past (Master) 1, with the gain up, this thing rattles my house. At (Master) 5, the cross above my door fell down, so I kind of took it as a...

Since the EDIT function isn't seeming to work, I'll repost. I not only have the Bassmaster XM100C, because today she arrived. The Yorkville XS800H (She sits on an 18" cab). I'm in bass heaven... :D:bassist::D

    Musicians we love to hate

Damn, some of these were hilarious but so true. Sorry if some of mine were mentioned as I haven't read all the way through this thread but, here we go. The drummer who constantly plays double bass licks after the songs end thinking he's good The guitarist who insists on having a bassist in...

How many of us use no effects?

Started bassin' when I was 14 (3 years ago), and I haven't tried any pedals yet; however, that being said, I never really had the desire too, and since I got my new bass, I don't think that joker needs any type of effects because the tone is so sweet coming from my bass-->cable-->amp. I will...

    Ouch this hurts!!!

Alright guys, I am only 16, and lemme tell you all something!! I'm not just saying this to fit in, this is my honest opinion. I have played through a Crate amp, which was phenomenal until the acting up kicked in, but that's beside the point!! The point is that I would KILL to have an Ampeg...

    relationship with your bass

I'm a bit above the intermediate line by now, but still far from veteran status. My basses are my partners in crime, without a doubt. Me without my bass is like a bathroom without a toilet. Seriously, my Yamaha's name is Johnny G-String (first thing that came to mind), and my Ibanez has yet to...

My opinion on "hearing yourself on stage"

This is a good point, as I have friends who just won't turn down. However, bass is an instrument that already goes unnoticed by many (younger crowds of course), and without the right amount of stage volume, you might has well stand there unplugged. I like to hear myself, simply because I have to...
