Show me your compact pedalboard setup

This was super-helpful, cheers. Never even considered stacking pedals like this. I left my JDI and ProDI off-board for that reason, never thinking I could put stuff on top of them. That will make future pedal boards so much more fun to build! Thanks!

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Na, not losing your mind. I'm in the same boat really. With one of my bands, I tend to turn it off for good because there's always at least SOME overdrive going on, so the SpectraComp is more, like, getting in the way rather than adding anything to my bass's punch etc.. With the other band I...

    Master Effects Owners Society

That's what I do with the Super Two Hundred btw.. Pic from today's rehearsal: Result is a fat, slightly OD but not very distorted tone, and yeah, sorta "loose"? At any rate, just the ticket for what I need the box for with this band. (Classic Rock covers, mostly played in a punk-y way.)

I have a Super 200 question, Tim. Or rather, two: 1. The tone stack – I think / it sounds to me like it works the same as the AD200 and Terror Bass tone stacks, i.e. "flat" would be somewhere around 8-9 o'clock for Bass and Treble with Mids dimed (rather than everything at noon). Correct? 2...

Shirt arrived. I think I have a new favorite gig shirt. Alas, without the cigarette I think, could come in the way of playing. Anyways, hi! Hope your Pride Month is working out well. Things are sorta crazy over here at the moment, we had a mob booing Posey Parker out of a public speech, which...

Don't know about you guys and gals, but I've been running Sleep's "The Siences" on heavy rotation, like, 24/7, for the best part of the past three months. Don't know who here put me onto the Sleep Car of the Doom Train, but whoever you are – cheers. It's so shaging great.

    Show your tidy pedalboard!

That was a Pedaltrain Metro 16, PSU a TrueTone CS6 with an adaptor cable / polarity reversal for the Bass Butler. Finding a patch cable that fit the plug was actually a challenge; the one the TS6 shipped with was too tight. In the end I used the one that came with my Diamond Bass Comp.

I'm so sorry. It's such a common term here I didn't consider it might not be elsewhere. Thanks for clarifying it, Flamingo! :)

Veya is on Redbubble as "artbyveya", so, yes. It's where our Swiss band gets much of its merch printed, too, so hitting that button was quite easy for me, and delivery to the EU should be no issue. I got the bi-flavoured version, naturally, but she has almost all of the flags covered.

Happy Pride! It's a mixed bag so far on my end, but I hope yours is happier. Pros: Close friend finally felt safe enough to come out as enby, which was quite something because I've known about it since the late 90s and they simply … couldn't come out, even to their own partner previously...

    Bass specific Distortion/Drive pedals

I most often use a Damnation Audio MBD-2 for my dirt needs. I play a pretty dirty sound as my base tone to begin with, the MBD-2 is used with the +20 dB switch "on" for, well, more dirt. I run it with pretty high Depth settings, i.e. quite a lot of the lower frequencies distorted, but with the...

Dive bars - how do they do it?

Many dives around here closed down during and shortly after the pandemic. I was wondering how they kept going for so long before that, and well, mostly they didn't, really. Covid was just the last straw for many dive bars, regular bars, restaurants etc. here in Switzerland. Those bar people...

    Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I see the Curmudgeon / DIST2 isn't on the Damnation Audio page any longer. Perhaps for ages, I don't know for how long. I've been very happy with my MBD2 and was considering the DIST2 as a high-gain companion. But it not being listed on Jeff's page makes me wonder – too little demand, missing...

Do you consider a compressor pedal a "must have"?

Opening a new thread with a specific title might be more sensible than adding on to this discussion, but for what it's worth: I like optical compressors for that utility, and put them after any dirt and behind the preamp. The Ampeg Opto Comp would be a low-priced tool for the job. Your existing...

@Danielle Meyer I didn't like your post because I found it likeable, but for mental support, so to say. I keep on hearing similar stories from all around the web, from acquaintances, from friends. It makes me feel helpless. TERF talking points making it into political agenda even here in...

    Show your tidy pedalboard!

Ah, you use the Super Two Hundred in a dual-channel setup? So I guess the DG adds the high-gain distortion? How do you like that combination? I'm asking as just yesterday, I took my Super Two Hundred for a real-life live spin for the first time – and noticed I didn't need the low-gain overdrive...

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Replaced the JoshWah with the SV-Pre as an Overdrive for yesterday's outing (Metal/Alternative). It was also the first time I used the Master Effects Super Two Hundred in the wild. The Super Two Hundred just slaps. What a great pedal. And it gave me quite the conundrum: I didn't really need...

    Broughton Audio Super Thread

Well, it's as Josh's marketing blurb says – it's something like half a gazillion tons lighter than a JDI. If there's one thing I don't like about the JDI, it's its weight. Features, built, sound, all great – but every time I pack my bag, I wonder whether I can't just skip that brick and go with...

What compressor do you use, and why?

I own and use three compressors, but only one at a time. On my main board, a Broughton Omnicomp, secondary board a Diamond Bass Comp. The distribution primary/secondary is mostly due to form factor; I never managed to get the Jr version of the Diamond and the Omnicomp's top-mounted plugs make it...

Tell me how you use your bass preamp pedal

How do I use a preamp pedal – well, we mostly play ampless nowadays, any bass amp onstage is for either show or used as a monitor. So I want to send "my" tone to FOH, enter the preamp pedal. As I'm partial to the Orange flavor of bass, keeping my pre (M:E Super Two Hundred or Orange Bass Butler)...

Genzler Amplification Announces New Magellan Preamp/DI Pedal

I'd be interested in sound samples and/or impressions in "feel" of > classic, vintage harmonic textures If it pretty much transfers to "saturated amp close to breakup, but not yet in OD territory", this thing could replace three boxes on my board, while providing better EQ options than I have...

I'm told they're looking into translating it into English, but that it might take some time because the author does weird things with language in it. Yup, there's various reasons why prices might seem off. Here in Switzerland, buying directly from Josh, including shipping and taxes I paid close to 300 current dollars for the SV-Pre many many months ago. It's about $225 including shipping to Switzerland, about another $20 of taxes on top, if I...

Yay, here goes the search for a new drummer. I think it might depend on the input / bass in question. For my SV-Pre, with the Master dimed, unity is about 8 o'clock on the Gain dial (with everything else flat). That is, with my passive Sandberg; with the passive FrankenFretless it's about 1 o'clock, and with the active U-Bass, around 9...

Ya, you might need more time with it. For me, the be-all, end-all has always been the Diamond Bass Comp. At the moment, not really, unfortunately. Getting a license is highly organised here in Switzerland, meaning I don't have any of the positive things associated with driving at the moment. I'm still swinging with Velcro on Pedaltrains, Metro 16 on my main board. But the Temple Audio stuff has me intrigued. If I get it right, you strap stuff down with plates you mount your pedals on, and then they lock on the board? I'm mostly intrigued because of the power cable routing...

Get well! It's similar here in Switzerland; either you get the 'Rona or the seasonal flu, and distinguishing between the two is getting more difficult with every mutation. Personally, I'd get an envelope filter with a gain stage I like. For me, that was the Joshwah, which can do pretty much anything from burpy funk sounds to high-gain distortion put through a Wah. Sound-wise, it's not a problem for me, they don't start to rattle or something. BUT I had the Terror Bass vibrate off a stack of OBC112 first time I pushed them in a band setting (loud alternative rock / metal). Since then, I put a towel between top cab and Terror Bass and haven't had any...
