    gig recorder for old guy

Check out the Zoom Q3. It does video as well and is truly a no brainer to operate. I have an H2 as well and the Q3 sounds as good (or better).

I have a few of the Pandora's (4B included) and they all function about the same. So you shouldn't have a prob using the 3B manual. Sorry no pdf file.

    Favorite line from a song.

"Today's the Fourth of July, Another June has gone by, And as they light up our town, I just think what a waste of gunpowder and sky." (Aimie Mann) There is something about this lyric....

    Where is rock music headed?

Back in the late 70's Rock was supposedly "dethroned" by Disco and we all know what happened there. Rock has been for the most part the driving force of music for the last 60years. Most of us who have been around for a while are used to the Next Big Thing being just around the bend. The last...

Brand New Fender Jaguar Basses $580

The Jags are priced all over the place. When Fender did their price hike they bumped them from around $650 to $900 but I don't think they are selling, so they are lowering again. $580 sounds like a good price. I bought mine for $650 (3 years ago).

    zoom vs m-audio vs...?

The Zoom H2 does CD quality plus and is only around $180. Zoom has a video recorder coming out in around a month called the Q3 that does video and quality audio recording and will be around $250. I have the H2 but I am going to pick up the Q3 as well. But if you do not need the video pick up the...

    Boss BR-864 effects as plug-ins?

I am not familiar with the Br64 but I assume it has an output on it. Why not run your bass/ guitar through it and out to your computer?

    What would you consider excessive?

I have a GK 700 rbII head and the manual says to use the -14db cut if the peak light comes on excessively. I play with my P Bass turned all the way up (with a pick) and while I wouldn't exactly say it comes on excessively, I would say it comes on maybe....intermittently? Anyway, what harm...

Best Band That Has been influenced by "The Beatles"

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Oasis yet. They even "borrow" Beatles progressions and Titles in their songs (Champagne Supernova and Wonderwall for example). Didn't one of the brothers name his son Lennon? That is a lot of influence.:hmm:

    Zoom H2 Question

I wouldn't recommend it. I believe the mic in is for a small computer type mic. You could run your bass into a processor with a line out, but your best bet is to use the interior built in mics.

Looking for a multi effect unit

Then I would strongly recommend the Boss ME-50B. It is laid out like a bunch of different boxes that you can dial in, or if you create something you would like to save, you can still save as a preset. It is also only around $300 American.

Looking for a multi effect unit

The Boss ME-50B is another good choice. But if you are looking for amp modeling too then go with the Boss GT 10B.

    Songs that make you cry

This street, That man, This life by the Cowboy Junkies is one of the saddest most hauntingly beautiful songs that has left me crying like a big fat baby.

Music that makes you cry (or want to)

The Eva Cassady version of Over the Rainbow always chokes me up. Especially since we lost her at such a young age. She was as talented as she was beautiful.

    lyrics

Good job, especially for a first attempt. I agree about the "almost going bust line. Maybe try "hope turning to dust".

    A quick question

Thanks for the quick reply, Mal. I just bought the SBX 410+ cab and was concerned about the wattage of the two cabs (1200 total) vrs. the 480 of the head. I have read some horror stories in other threads about this type of set up causing distortion and blowing speakers.

    A quick question

I am running a GK 700rbII head (480 watts to woofer 50 watts to tweeter at 4 ohms) to a GK SBX 410+ (8 ohms and 800 watts) and a GK SBX 115 (8 ohms at 400 watts). I play my American Standard P Bass almost exclusively. Does anyone else use this set up? It seems to work great. My only concern...

    Question about speaker replacement

I blew one of my speakers in my GK SBX 410 (8 ohm cab 400 watts). I replaced two of the speakers (the blown one and it's mate) with comparable speakers (same ohms only 150 watts instead of 100) and it sounds great. My question is, the new speakers are better quality and sound louder than the...

Cool things to say between songs

I don't like a lot of banter, but if we're playing and no one is on the dance floor I like to introduce the next song by saying "We're going to slow things down and give you dancers a break". It usually gets a chuckle and gets a few people on the floor.

    Guitar Care

The main thing to do is use a fretboard conditioner every 6 months or so. And if you sweat a lot while you play wipe it down with a dry cloth (microfiber cloths work great) to keep it from getting nasty. You can use a polish on the body to replace the oils in the natural wood whenever it floats...

They are killer. I use them on my Black P Bass (with Black pickguard) with a maple neck. They look almost as good as they sound!
