Old new old guy is back

Hello. Used to hang out here a LOT. Left when the whole thing got re-done, couldn't adapt. Gonna try again, I guess. Where did *Off-Topic* go?

    P bass tuner upgrade/relocation questions

I have searched TB and the webs but haven't seen my issue addressed: I'm wanting to replace the wimpy little tuners on a Chinese-made Squier Jazz neck w/the larger, cloverleaf units. The new(to this bass- they're used but in decent condition)tuners have the typical Fender 11/16" bushings, so...

CS-9 trim pots- what do they do?

I just snagged a nice CS-9 chorus(thanks, fitz420:D)& right away noticed what appears to be a pair of trim pots- inside the battery compartment. I searched but found nothing on these here or the 'nets, and thought I'd ask before tweaking them and effing up the tone. :)

    Semi-anonymous rant thread

Kvetching here as doing so elsewhere will hurt a butt or two. FB movies make me hurl. Well, the one I watched did, and it was a good friend- but Im pretty sure any other will have the same effect. Making my own might fill me w/a strange desire to bury myself. Also, the ice-skating Olympic...

    Lexicon Omega- any good?

My 14-yr-old son wants to record basic band-type stuff(bass, gtrs, keys, drums, vox)w/his laptop- a Samsung w/Audacity. The local music store has the Omega USB interface for $150- I have very limited experience w/OLD-school multitracking, effectively no knowledge of computer-based recording and...

Bit strips: Dear sweet LORD please stop

Rant These *bitstrips* cartoons plaguing FB(yeah, hats what I get for being there- like a 12-yr-old girl, I guess..)are just awful. Not awful and funny ala Southpark, but more pure awful. Anyway, I don't dare kvetch over there as many of my actual friends are busy posting this stuff. #whyIdrink

    Help me build a shed

Specifically, help me find good online how-tos. Also, not exactly a shed, but a pump house- to shelter a pool filter/pump, etc. Actual experiences are welcome too- I've done a bit of construction- a redwood deck w/roof, LOTS of cabinet & interior stuff- so Im familiar w/the basics. I'll measure...

    Soundtank, anyone?

Got a couple few of these plastic thingies- a SWEET EM-5, a DL-5 & FL-5. The Echo Machine is nice- thinks its analog, oscillates easily. The Digital Delay is not bad but nowhere near as analog-esque as the EM-5. The Flanger is interesting, nothing I can't live without. They all have internal...

Large, Japanese clay *BBQ*.. What's it called?

Growing up in the US in the 70's, it seemed every other suburban/nuclear family had one of these: 3-4 feet high, round, clay smoker/grill/BBQ- folks called them *Hibachis* (I'm guessing incorrectly)but searching that term shows the little box-type units.. What are the big things called? Yo...

    Suggest a gig bag

Searched, newest result was from 2011. Had a Ritter, loved it but it's getting beat-up. One zipper quit and a few seams are going... Would like to keep it under $50, will not be touring. Needs to house a Jazz V.

    Med/psych term for unnatural aversion?

I don't mean a phobia, but rather a strong dislike for something that is not necessarily painful, unhealthy or otherwise detrimental in one way or the other; just something that you just can't be in the same room with. My youngest daughter likes to crunch ice- I know this can be dangerous for...

    Stanley Clarke w/Animal Logic

    SOMETHING needs to be DONE...

...about the muscleman ads. If the ads' subject has anything to do w/what we as TBers are looking at(between basses for metal and telling people search), then I say we are NOT browsing for t-shirts & leggings like we should. That is all.

Double Bass Suggest a good, clear(audible bass)rec of Come rain or come shine

Good morning, highly esteemed ones. Forgive my slabbist feet muddying the sacred halls of TB DB. I have accepted a last-minute fill-in gig- jazz standards, most of which I have heard and love but never learned. I have the keyboardist's charts and a fake/real book or two but wanted to develop a...

    Anyone covering *Trololo*?

I am convinced that, in the right venue, in the perfectly-drunken moment, it could be legend-spawiningly awesome. Or catastrophically career-ending, or both. Probably both.

Do-it-all bass or one for every occasion?

Kinda like the age-old *single effects vs multis* question- which way do you lean? I have a Stambaugh 6 that was meant as a Swiss Army bass: active/passive, wide-spaced for slapability, chambered for guitar-esque upper register... I love the bass but also have a few *1 1/2 trick...

Fun things to do when you're OLD

You kids might think getting old sucks. Well, it does- it really does- but it has it's benefits. Here are a few pleasant activities for you to look forward to... 1. Making it to the bathroom in time 2. Knowing it(getting old and crusty)happens to most everyone 3. Not caring on a much greater...

Prime examples of digi vs analog octave?

Oh esteemed pedal addicts- can any of you direct me to a clear example of both a digital and analog octave effect- ideally under $100- for comparison? I've fiddled w/a couple but haven't hit my ideal. Recordings and/or pedal samples would be great- thank you!

2002 Cannondale Scalpel MTB frame/fork, extras
