    3 Wood Challenge: Esquire!

So, it's almost been a year since I updated this. I've been busy with bands, school, and other projects and left the esquire half painted in my corner to sit. It's back to an empty summer, so I'm going to resume work on the esquire. I'll get some more pics of it now, since the fretboard was...

    firearms as a hobby

Well, I'm technically too young to own a gun, but I often go shooting. I usually use a Baretta 92, a 12 or 20 ga., I often shoot my brothers black powder .50 cal or .243 Win. One of my good friends lets me take out his Mosin Nagant often too, or his 7x57 Mauser. Shootings been a pastime of mine...

    Danelectro Long Horn Bass issues

Make sure you're wiring is correctly grounded and your cavities are all correctly shielded. Look for any loose/broken connections in your wiring too. Always do this first when you have a problem. I don't know of any good places in Atlanta (Mostly because I've never looked), but if its just a...

Where to Buy High Quality pickup covers?

You can always take out a high grit sanding block or steel wool to make it matte. But, if you really want something nice you can probably find some good looking matte pup covers on eBay.

Where to Buy High Quality pickup covers?

Most pickup covers will be the same at any price point, they're all a piece of plastic. And if you want them matte, juts take some steel wool to them and scuff them up nice and even. Most pickup covers are created equal, so as long as it fits I wouldn't really care, as the "chana cheapos" are...

Average db of a band playing in a garage

In my band, we played in a non-insulated garage. The floor was concrete. When A car drove in we drowned it out. I estimate mine to be around 90 db, it was ridiculous loud in there.

What do you do with your old strings?

I only replace sets after I break strings (I play 105's, and often break E's). I keep the unbroken strings in an old jewelry box, as often they are still pretty good sounding when I break them.

Guys, how much bending do you do?

I started out on guitar (playing blues) so when I switched to bass the bending was just part of my technique. I use it from minor vibrato to screaming leads. Its understandable why a lot of people with a low radius don't bend, as it frets out ridiculously quick. I also don't understand why...

    MCA's (Adam Yauch's) Cab/Amp setup?

Thanks for the info! I've looked around a ridiculous amount about the rig he used, but the only info is on his pedals, never on his amps or cabs.

    MCA's (Adam Yauch's) Cab/Amp setup?

Anybody have an idea of what he usually used? I also would like to know what amp/cab is in this video: Any help is appreciated.

    Vinyl spinners club

Ha, I found out why I was having too much distortion. I was running my TT into the Phono Preamp input on my Sony sytem, without realising that the AT-PL50 had an internal preamp. I ran it into the Aux. input on the same system, and it sounds FANTASTIC! I run the TT into my reciever (A vintage...

Yeah, I would definitely agree is has more W&F and unwanted Distortion than I would like, but Its a lot better than I expected. As long as its not destroying my records I'm fine.

    shector question

I'd say around 400 for a good condition stock Studio 4. Schecters do not seem to hold their resale value if you buy them new, but used a Schecter is a VERY good deal, and not just for the money

    John Entwistle - 'staved' amps?

I'm assuming he said "slaved", as Sunn amps were commonly used as slave power amps. Slaving is basically running the preamp of a head (called the master) into a separate power amp (called a slave). This would essentially add extra power and allow you to use more cabs.

First post. Is this a good bass or should I keep looking?

Schecter man. Schecter. I got my used Stargazer 5 for 320$ and the thing is near PERFECT. Check out basically anything Schecter and it won't be too bad.

    Can anyone ID this Yamaha?

Looks like another POS japanese bass. I wouldn't buy it, unless you plan on doing a full setup (fretwork, lots of truss rod adjustment (If it has an adjustable truss rod), probably rewiring) I wouldn't mess with it if I were you, you could get a Teisco with similar looks and better playability...

Help bass id please (japenese content)

This is most likely a Teisco or one of the many Teisco brands (Kingston, Harmony, Del Ray, many others) Although it looks similar to a 60's Carvin as well. There are Carvin ctalogs available online, I may be able to put a link in here. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] There you go. A one pup...

    Been taken for a ride...

Something similar happened to me. After a while of trying civilly to get my credit, I decide to be the bigger man (which I was physically) and open a can of whoop ass. I wouldn't recommend this option, but it worked for me.

    is this possible?

Too heavy? Pshah, my custom bass weighs 30.5 pounds (Body is 22 lbs, neck is 5 and hardware and accesories are 3.5) Feels like a featherweight :D And to contribute to the OP: You COULD glue frets to the top of the fretboard, not sure if it would be any less damaging than setting them though...

Popped an E. No Burr that I can see. Help.

Yeah, I've never heard of it happening. Except in my case. I've done it on all sorts of strings and many different basses. The guys at my local GC hate me because I will usually break most of the strings on basses I'm trying out. I'm really not sure how, I guess I just hit ridiculously hard.

tech question, peavey TNT 130 w/ BW speaker.

Ha, I had this EXACT problem happen to my BW equipped TKO 65. I couldn't get get my chassis all the way out, so I just halfway slid it out and plugged the speaker leads back in. When I bought mine the handle was missing too. Weird :D

Time to tell the truth: how much does your bass weigh?

My 2008 stock Schecter Stargazer 5 weighs 13.5 pounds. A bit of a monster, but the body I built for my Esquier bass weighs 22.8 pounds. Good thing I'm young.

Sing me up for this club, as long as it ain't defunct. I'm not currently owning as much wax as I used to (I currently have about 30 records, I've had upwards of 100 before) I also am currently borrowing a turntable, It kinda sucks. I don't ever know the model, though I'll probably find out soon...

    ultra low

I would recommend the DOD Meatbox for this as well, just be careful with it. If you turn it up too much you'll be blowin speakers left and right. The DOD Meatboxes are really cool to run with subs though, basically the lowest things you've ever heard.
