What is your rig and what genres of music do you play? (does it work for you?)

I play in a groove metal band that tunes down to G and F. I play finger style, slap, tap, and chords. Currently my rig is a GK MB Fusion 800 into an Ampeg 610hlf. I love this set up. Super punchy and cuts through everything. I would suggest trying out as many heads and cabs as you can and see...

    Schecter Basses?

I own a Stiletto Studio 6 and I love it. The neck is very comfortable especially for a 6. These basses sound pretty amazing and just like a lot of the other guys have already said you get a really well built bass for not all that much money.

What is your favorite old video game?

Castlevania Symphony of the Night is my all time favorite game. Really anything Castlevania. Even the newer ones I really like. Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 for NES and anything Mega Man. Some awesome times spent playing these games since I was a kid.

Help for a Schecter Diamond Stiletto Studio 4

I have one of these basses but in 6 string and it does really well for playing metal. In have 2 basses with the EMG HZ pickups and give a real clear punchy tone with lots of fat low end that works really well IMO for metal in general regardless of the sub genre you are playing. I dig em quite a bit.

Spector Legend 5, Schecter Stiletto Studio 5, or Stiletto Custom 5

I agree with you. I have an older B205 that I use along side my Stiletto Studio. These are really nice sounding basses and the price can't be beat.

Where Did You Buy Your First Bass?

I bought my first bass from Ace's Music in West Palm Beach FL in '95. I got a '95 Fender MIM P-bass. Still have the bass and play it almost everyday.

Spector Legend 5, Schecter Stiletto Studio 5, or Stiletto Custom 5

I bought a Stiletto Studio 6 string and l love it. I tried a few Spectors before hand but they just didn't have the sound I wanted. The Stiletto Custom is nice also but the Studio for the price in my opinion just sounds so much better. You can get a crazy amount of tones out of that bass.

Switching between 5 string and 4 string basses?

Don't sell your 4 string. I play mostly on 5 and 6 now with my band and didn't touch my 4 for well over 10 years. Now it's the only one I really practice on at home. It's like a brand new toy every time I pick it up. Lot's of fun playing on it. Plus it's nice to attack things from a...

Need help choosing a 5 string (700-800 dollar range)

Here is a video that I found that helped me make the decision to buy my Stiletto Studio. The neck is super easy to play on and the sound is awesome. Slapping sounds really good on it too. The string spacing is a little narrow on these so it may take a little getting used to when first...

    Please help a newbie

+1 for the MIM Fender. I have a MIM Pbass that I bought new in 95 and it still plays amazing. Definately well worth the $225 that they are wanting for it. Just make sure you play it first and see if it feels right before committing to the purchase. Good luck on finding a bass that clicks with...

    Ibanez/Warwick Shootout for metal

If you're open to other basses you may want to check out the Schecter Stiletto Studio 6. It's a pretty solid bass. I can get just about any tone I can think of out of it. You can also get a pretty good growl out of it too. Plus it runs around $799.

    New bassist - 6 strings?

I would say go for it man. Play what you want to play. Given your background I wouldn't think that it would be too hard for you to get used to a 6er. I would also agree with Righteous Thunderer on checking out the uses goods on here. Definately will get more bang for your Buck.

Thinking of buying SVT IV Pro. Solid State/tube preamp VS tube only

IMO you got an awesome deal. I've had my SVT 4 Pro for almost 15 years now and it's still going strong. I haven't found anything else that i like better tone wise and for dependability. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. I'm running it with an Ampeg PR410HLF and Ampeg PR15H and it's a...

    What ended your first band...

Guitarist had a real bad God complex and left to join a rap metal band who kick him out 2 months later because he refused to write new material. It was for the better though. The rest of us regrouped and started playing under a new name and ended up with a much better reception from the local...

    Wow. This is crazy

I've played a couple of shows with this guy a few years back when I was in an electronic grindcore band. He used to do a spoken word set that was pretty thought provoking to say the least. It was pretty far out there but made you think a little bit.

Does your band actively work on your visual show?

I personally think the visual aspect of a show is just as important as the musical. I can't stand to go see a band play and they all just sit there like they'd rather be somewhere else. It's pretty boring compared to a band that moves around and shows that they're feeling what they are...

    Why do you gig?

Music is in my blood and part of that is playing gigs. I've been doing it for almost 20 years and I never want to stop. For me this a high that can't be found anywhere else. It's so amazing when you look out into a packed club and everyone is singing along to one of your songs. I really...

    SVT 4 PRO????

I've played on a 4pro for the last 13 years and love it. I don't mind the weight all that much as long as I can get an extra pair of hands to help me move it around. It's got plenty of power and does anything that I need it too. I have had a few things in the past that have gone wrong with it...

How good do you think you are?

I would consider myself to be an ok bassist/musician. I'm no where as good as I strive to be and I know I'll never get to the point where I don't think that I need to learn anything else. I get the job done for what ever I'm playing and the guys that I play with seem to be happy with my skill...

    SVT4Pro Direct Out causes buzz

I would also like to know what this issue is that you are having. I've had a simular issue with my SVT4Pro as well. The wet side of my direct out gives a low hissing anytime I plug into it. The dry side works just fine but since it's the dry side my effects loop doesn't come through. It's...

    Odd learning style

This happens to me quite often. Actually it just happened yesterday when I was at band practice. There is a part of this song that I've been having some trouble on. When it was time to play it I nailed it. I just consider this as an added bonus and hope it keeps happening.

What year did you get your first 6string bass?

Just bought my first after 17 years of playing. Should be in tomorrow. It's a Schecter Stiletto Studio 6 in honey satin. I've played mainly 5 strings for the last 13 years and decided to finally go get a 6.
