Try a wick from pre '99, or a brand new one. I have a '97 Fortress One, and the neck is really nice and slim, and it's all wenge! One of the best feeling neck IMO

Ray's are good, but it's a different kinda growl to everything. IME you can make anything growl in fact when I went to see Cherry Poppin Daddies, his P bass growled like nothing I've ever heard.

There is a thing with Rays and weak G strings, and sometimes D's Try raising the Pickup on the Treble side, if that doesn't do it, maybe some new strings.

I've never played an Allen, but the sound is just pure upright.

It just looks like a Squire VM Fretless Jazz with an MIM neck. It's got the VM pickups in it too, which aren't bad, they're just not amazing. Not really special, but I'm not sure what the AU is worth atm...

I say do it, all these people before me have said keep it because it's a Ric, but if it's not right for you, sling it, just make sure you're not short changed so to speak. And Skylines are quite the opposite of a rip off.
