Wonder Woman 1984 is tough watch. The storyline is bordering on Superman III territory. I was waiting for Kevin Hart to appear in the Richard Pryor role!
Too bad as I enjoyed the first one which was surprisingly good.
This is huge news. Major motion pictures released directly to home-viewing methods.
All the flicks mentioned will most likely never turn a profit vs. the money that was spent to make them. And it's probably going to change the movie-making game for the rest of our lives. Pirates are rejoicing.
Tonight on AXSTV, I saw the Michael Hutchence documentary, Mystify. The story of his life is told through audio interviews of those who knew him best... family, girlfriends, bandmates, roommates, etc. Wow, great show... incredible insight.
If you're a fan of the man or the band, I recommend.
Drop your favorite bass player (or other music-related) movies, documentaries, and miniseries in this thread.
My 2 favorite are Scott Pilgrim vs the World and Whiplash.
Or at least his dad does.
In the early portion of the Aquaman movie, the camera pans past what looks like a black Fender P in Thomas Curry’s living room.
I wonder if he taught his son to play? Maybe those are the vibes he uses to control sea life.
Any fans of the film Manhunter out there? I saw it again recently and dug it.
I'm a big Michael Mann fan... and while Manhunter doesn't rank as one of his best (it was early in his career), I love the artsy look and tone, appreciate all the B-level actors, the script is solid and the...
I saw a blurb somewhere about this a couple days ago, figured it was just speculation. Now Bryan Cranston has confirmed it.
Bryan Cranston confirms 'Breaking Bad' movie happening - CNN
(CNN)A "Breaking Bad" movie is really happening, yo.
The series star Bryan Cranston appeared on...
As far as I can tell it’s Entwistle playing this funky riff as Oliver Reed hangs out in front of a burlesque house, but maybe Phil Chen. If a tab of this exists, I have to have it!
Thanks for any help:)
I just saw this movie. It’s one of the best non franchise, original sci fi movies I’ve seen in a long time. Unique and weird and good. That’s all. Carry on.
So I had some random channel on TV earlier as background noise, and I look up when I hear Vanilla Ice (I don’t know why, maybe expecting a good laugh I guess...)
I look up just in time to see “Music Director - Stanley Clarke”.
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to watch the movie - I’m always...
Here's a new game.
Post a visual clue to a movie (BUT NOT A PICTURE FROM THE MOVIE). Answer by posting a picture from the movie and the title.
I'll go first.
Just caught up with this after the Oscar®️ hoopla. This won Best Picture? Seriously? It’s beautifully filmed but otherwise ridiculous and very unpleasant at times. I don’t mean ridiculous because of Aquaman either.
No like much. Two out of five stars, only for cinematography and music score.
Here's a link to the movie mentioned by me in this thread.
Best Gig Ever!
This movie is about the guy that was the singer/harmonica player in the band. Interesting guy to say the least...
There are lots of movies with fictional bass players in them. Name your favorite
I'll start with two
T.B. Player from "That Thing You Do"
And Katie from "School Of Rock "
I can’t say I blame him but unfortunately he doesn’t own the rights. Waddaya gonna do.

Hey folks...I recently came into something I need some help with. I've been buying and selling stuff, mostly old furniture, but last week something totally unexpected came into my hands and I need some help. I got these from a very nice older lady who was selling off the remainder of her...
I can't tell you how excited I am to see this ... I loved the books, which were recommended to me by a friend. Cosmic horror on a Lovecraftian scale. I hope they do the books justice!
Any tried this? You sign up for $9.95 a month. They send you a MasterCard debit card. You pick out the movie you want to see and they load the debit card with the ticket price of that movie. You can do this up to once a day for one month and the total cost is $9.95 for the entire month...

So, anyone planning on going to this tomorrow evening?
Love to hear reviews of it - it seems like it's a one-night-only screening - which is a pretty cool idea but I do hope it gets some sort of general release.
'Anna and Ben can't stop fighting. Advised by their therapist to try and work through their grief unconventionally, they are reminded of their shared love of music. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, they decide to turn all of their fights into songs, and with the help of their...
Was just watching the movie...and that is some Badass bass playing...as always with MJ....
(Forever my hero Louis Johnson RIP.)
..but who is that in the movie?
The Legends are Leaving Us
Unfortunately the Legends are leaving us
We're getting to the age were some of the Greats are going away
Some of the people that made music great, are know longer here, or won't be here much longer here
Chuck
Bowie
Jackson
To many to list
Man I'll really miss...
I think I may have seen them all, love them all.
But....if I had to pick a fave, I'd go with the riveting Glengarry Glen Ross. It's as if every principal actor intended their performance in GGGR to be the piece de resistance of their entire acting careers.
Got a Mamet fave?
"Split" - movie - SPOILER ALERT - STOP READING - YOU WERE WARNED!
The end, Mr. Glass. I don't see the correlation; can anyone explain? I know of the movie but didn't see the connection.
I can't stand over-wrought movie reviews. Often I read them and am left with (1) no information at all about whether I would like the movie and (2) a sense that the reviewer was just writing to congratulate himself on the sophistication of his tastes.
For example (not the worst but the first...

Was watching this with my kid today - pretty funny. Stuff the parents will get bc kids don't exactly get all the KISS band references. And of course the music! But the part I was disappointed with was when they had their instruments and were doing their super-power stuff by strumming the guitar...
The documentary 'Rush | Time Stand Still' is coming to theatres in US & Canada on November 3.
The DVD/BluRay will be released November 18.
Rush | Time Stand Still – The Documentary
This is totally an opinionated post, but I want to know what you guys think. I'm in my early 20s, so I was a teenager when this movie was released, but I was still a bass player. I want to know what you guys think about this. It is a popular movie that focuses around a kid that plays the bass...
